Who we’re looking for
We need the best security minds to help make sure Intruder is always at the cutting edge of the industry, while simultaneously delivering the bespoke security consultancy and penetration testing that many of our customers need.
The core of your role will be to improve and maintain Intruder’s vulnerability scanning platform – helping to write new security issue descriptions and recommendations to clients. This task will include keeping up to date with the latest security vulnerabilities, so you’ll need to have an aptitude for cyber security, even if you don’t have years of experience under your belt yet. Alongside your work on the Intruder portal, you’ll also get a chance to join Intruder’s Verified team in finding additional weaknesses for customers on our Verified plan.
We’re looking for a candidate that would like to work towards becoming a full-fledged penetration tester within 6 – 12 months. For this junior role we’re not asking for the finished product, but you’ll need to prove your aptitude for security testing and to be a self-starter with a proven ability to learn about challenging cyber security topics.
Another key aspect of your role will be to weigh in on security support requests from Intruder’s customers, helping to debug issues and solve problems relating to vulnerability scanning and security testing. This part of the role will combine your security expertise and customer-facing skills, and you’ll need to understand the important difference between a technical vulnerability and a business risk, as our clients need us to speak their language as well as ours.

For this entry-level role, we are offering a competitive salary within the region of £30,000 - £35,000 per year, depending upon your existing experience and skill set. We're a friendly team and we work in an enjoyable but professional working environment. We're not a traditional consultancy in that our focus is primarily on the product, so we don't run our pentesting team at 100% utilisation, there's plenty of time for other activities, like doing security research or writing blog articles, where this aligns with company objectives.
